Yvette Simpson’s Bio for HRC:
The Houston Racquet Club is one of the largest, most beautiful clubs in the nation! I love our facility, the members and great staff! I am honored and humbled to be considered for a Board Member. Thanks for this opportunity to give back to the club, learn more and support our community.
I moved to Houston in 1999 from Toronto, Canada after finishing school at the University of Western Ontario – Ivey Business School. In 2000, I married Erik and we have three boys: Gavin (18), Stuart (16) and Kenny (13).
After working in the energy industry for several years, I decided to stay home to raise our boys. We joined the Racquet Club in 2005, and over the years, we have loved participating in swim team, fitness activities, dining and of course tennis!
All our children love and play competitive tennis; and when they’re not on the courts, they love to lift weights in the gym. Both Gavin and Stuart worked at HRC over the summer – Gavin worked in the children’s camps and Stuart worked by the pool and in security. Gavin is now a Freshman at Baylor, Stuart is a junior at Memorial High School and Kenny is in 8th grade at Spring Branch Middle School. With three of our boys playing tennis, I took up our family sport and started playing in the Memorial League about 10 years ago.
Off the court, I love helping our community and volunteering. I have served on the HRC Women’s Association, as Secretary, Assistant VP and President (2019). I am currently on Board of the Houston Tennis Association (HTA) and serve as their Marketing Chair. HTA works closely with National Junior Tennis Learning (NJTL) to help over 6000 youth in Houston have free tennis lessons and educational classes at over 60 neighborhood parks. I am also on the Board of a non-profit organization called LifeHouse of Houston. LifeHouse provides shelter for women who are pregnant and homeless. I captain my B1 Memorial Tennis League team, HRC Racquettes. In addition, I am the VP of Tennis at Memorial High School. I volunteer regularly at my children’s schools and have chaired auctions, managed budgets, coordinated volunteers, developed inventory spreadsheets, created menus, posters, videos… you name it, I will roll up my sleeves and help get it done.
Question:

Answer:
I will do my best to have your views and concerns heard for the HRC board. I am there everyday and please come up to me, text me or call me anytime. I am here to serve you the members of the Houston Racquet Club.
